Steady Steps in High Places: Habakkuk 3:19

"God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places."

Habakkuk was a prophet who lived during a time of great turmoil for Israel. He wrote this verse at the end of a prayer-song in which he poured out his fears, frustrations, and awe before God. The earlier verses in the chapter describe famine, hardship, and destruction, yet Habakkuk concludes with a declaration of hope and trust. Despite the bleakness of his circumstances, Habakkuk proclaims that God is his strength.
