A New Thing: Trusting God in the Waiting

"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."

- Isaiah 43:19

There are times in life when everything feels stagnant—when progress seems slow, doors remain closed, and the future looks uncertain. Maybe you’ve been praying for change, waiting for something new to happen, yet it feels like you’re wandering through a dry and empty season. But Isaiah 43:19 reminds us of a powerful truth: God is always at work, even when we can’t see it.

God specializes in creating something out of nothing. Just as He made a way for the Israelites through the wilderness and provided water in the desert, He is able to bring new opportunities, fresh strength, and renewed purpose into our lives. But here’s the challenge: we must open our eyes to see it. So often, we focus on what isn’t happening that we miss what God is already doing. Sometimes, the "new thing" He is bringing isn’t a sudden miracle but rather a shift in our hearts, a deepening of our faith, or a renewed sense of trust in Him.

The wilderness—those difficult seasons of waiting and uncertainty—is often where God does His greatest work in us. He clears out what no longer serves us, redirects our steps, and prepares us for what’s ahead. But we have to trust Him. Instead of getting discouraged by what hasn’t happened yet, we can choose to expect God to move, watch for His hand, and walk forward in faith.

Where in your life do you need to trust that God is making a way? What "new thing" might He be doing that you haven't yet perceived? This week, ask Him to open your eyes, give you patience in the waiting, and fill you with hope for what’s ahead.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for being a God who is always at work. Even when I feel stuck or uncertain, You are making a way in the wilderness. Help me to trust in Your timing and to see the new thing You are doing in my life. Give me faith to move forward, even when I don’t have all the answers. I surrender my plans to You and ask for Your guidance in every step. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I have been waiting for 20 years my daughter A.R. to come back to me and to God as the prodigal. I trust God/Jesus and the Holy Spirit but I don’t trust her. I gave her a very good Christian raising ( raise up a child in the way she should go and when she is old she will not depart from it ) but her biological mother tempted her away from me and from God. A.R. is doing all the wrong things. She is mean to me everyday and breaks my heart everyday. Please pray for her. Please pray for God to put the right Christian man in her life today and turn her back to Jesus . Please.
